Rod was born an hour and a half south of Melbourne, Australia on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
He found his passion for photography during his later years at high school, enjoying film photography and being in a darkroom.
When he was 18, he went to Chisholm Art School, studying an advanced diploma of Visual Art, and at 22 he studied Photography at Melbourne’s Photography Studies College. Throughout his studies, he was also trained by an award winning Australian wedding and portrait photographer.
Classifying himself as a people photographer, Rod’s work centers around finding connection with both subject and audience.
With every photograph, he aims to find the truth of that moment, to capture the very essence of the person in front of the camera. It’s all about letting the subject be themselves, and show the world part of their story.
Rod has over 10 years experience with weddings, portraits, bands, corporate and conceptual art photography.
Rod is influenced by Chris Cunningham, Michel Gondry, Dean Karr and Rob Sheridan.
